As the temperatures are rapidly dropping and your pumpkin beer buzz is wearing off, head into the holiday season with your spirits high, and your glasses full. Now is the time to start thinking about all the holiday beers and winter warmers you plan to enjoy during the holiday season! Hitting the market over the next few weeks, here are 23 festive winter offerings to cozy up with for the holidays, and beyond.

1. Troegs Mad Elf


The holidays at Tröegs start with our inner Mad Elf momentarily taking over the brew deck. So blame “him” for this cheerful ruby red creation reminiscent of ripened cherries, raw honey and cocoa with notes of cinnamon, clove and allspice. ABV: 11.0%

2. Dogfish Head IPA’s for the Holidays

Arriving just in time to make your ‘jingle bells rock,’ we’re bringing ‘joy to the world’ with the return of our IPAs for the Holidays variety 12-pack! Available beginning early November, the holiday pack contains four varieties of IPA goodness in one special box.

3. D’achouffee N’ice

N’ice CHOUFFE is the winter beer from the Achouffe Brewery. We recommend that you enjoy it from mid-October to mid-February, preferably by the fireplace. It is a dark beer, slightly hoppy, spiced with thyme and curaçao, and made using orange peel. It has an alcohol content of 10%. N’ice CHOUFFE goes well with any winter dishes. ABV: 10.0%

4. Bell’s Christmas Scotch Ale


This traditional Scotch Ale is rich and malty with notes of caramel and a warm finish. Certain to make any occasion festive, or at least a bit more bearable. Enjoy with the company of friends and family. ABV: 7.5%

5. Avery Sweater Party

Sweater Party warms from the inside out with specialty malts and mulling spices, including cinnamon, orange peel, allspice, cloves, and ginger. ABV: 8.0%

6. Flying Dog K-9 Winter Warmer

Put on your parka. Lace up those snow boots. Walk outside and soak up that 27 minutes of sunlight. It’s winter! After a long day of sliding across icy parking lots on your face, there’s no better way to beat back the cold than with K-9 Winter Warmer, a strong English ale teeming with deep malty flavor and nutty spiciness. Pull up a seat by the fireplace with a slice of spice cake or a bowl of hearty stew, and let K-9 thaw your soul in ways a Snuggie™ never could. ABV: 7.4%

7. 21st Amendment Fireside Chat


Like FDR’s Depression-era radio addresses, which were like a kick in the butt and a hug at the same time, our Fireside Chat is a subtle twist on the traditional seasonal brew. We begin with a rich, dark, English-style ale and then we improvise with spices until we know we have a beer worth sharing with the nation. Fireside Chat is our holiday seasonal available from November through December in six pack cans and on draft. Brewed like a classic, warming Strong Ale but with a subtle blend of hand-selected spices for just the right festive flair. ABV: 7.9%

8. Abita Christmas Ale

Our Christmas Ale is a brown ale that is brewed with six types of malted barley and fermented with American Ale yeast. It is brewed with pale malt as well as a combination of Caramel, Biscuit, Munich, and chocolate malts. It is hopped and dry-hopped with Columbus, Cascade, Centennial, and Amarillo and has a nice piney and citrus hop flavor and aroma. The result is a flavorful brown ale that is sweet and malty with a pleasant hop aroma. ABV: 5.8%

9. Flying Dog Family Drama

I’ll be home for Christmas, but let Mom know I’ll definitely need a beer that’s higher in ABV. We didn’t just brew an imperial pilsner, we brewed an 8.4% holiday coping mechanism. Light malt notes with slightly-floral hop character, this beer tastes like good tidings of comfort and joy. Which is good because Uncle Frank is here, ready to give his annual update on body parts that hurt. Family Drama pairs perfectly with roasted meats, holiday-spiced desserts, and staring off into space while pretending you’re invisible. ABV: 8.4%

10. Rogue Santa’s Private Reserve


The 2018 vintage of Santa’s Private Reserve is certain to bring the holiday cheer. At Santa’s request, we brewed him a special ale. This Belgian Dark Ale is packed with tangerines and boysenberries and is guaranteed to turn even the worst grinches into the most spirited Holiday goers. ABV: 7.9%

11. Rogue Yellow Snow Pilsner

Winter-inspired pilsner brewed with Oregon spruce tips which add sweetness and slight piney, citrusy nuances. ABV: 5.5%

12. Corsendonk Christmas Ale (and Gift Set)

Brewed with Pale, Munich and Caramunich malts; Kent Goldings hops. This is a rich, dark, joyous brew with which to celebrate the holiday season. It’s aroma of chocolate malt and spiciness is reminiscent of the wonderfull smells of holiday baking in Mom’s kitchen. Silky smooth on the palate, it’s predominantly malty, with smoky, spicy and citrusy notes and a long, lingering finish that is lightly tart and malty. Bottle conditioned for a fresh, lively taste. Round and well balanced, it’s a welcome addition for holiday tables and beyond. ABV: 8.5%

13. Two Roads Holiday Ale Biere De Garde

Two Roads Holiday Ale is inspired by the little known Biere de Noel style, a subset of Biere de Garde, both of which originated on small farmhouse breweries in the north of France. Biere de Noel, which translates as “Christmas Beer,” tends to exhibit a more malty profile than a typical Biere de Garde. In its native France this special type of ale is brewed by just a handful of small breweries and is only available for the few weeks leading up to Christmas. ABV: 7.3%

14. Yards Poor Richard’s Spruce Ale


Based on Benjamin Franklin’s original recipe, this one-of-a-kind deep amber ale calls for barley, molasses and essence of spruce. Locally sourced organic blue spruce clippings are steeped in a kettle to create an ale as approachable and engaging as the man himself. ABV: 5.0%

15. Fordhamn & Dominion Winter Chills

Warm up this season with Winter Chills, a limited release ale with a sweet aroma and caramel malt taste. With a small bite and medium body, this copper-colored dry ale leaves a lasting impression, just like a winter chill. ABV: 7.5%

16. Downeast Winter Blend

a reward for all that shoveling. we keep it interesting with toasted oak chips, cinnamon bark, nutmeg, and a little extra kick to help you forget you have to go back out there. ABV: 6.5%

17. Bronx Jingle Jangle Christmas Ale

Aged with Amburana Wood, this Holiday Ale’s a little sweet, with a little spice. A little naughty, and a little nice. When it gets cold in NYC, it happens in a hurry. So we brewed this Up and Comer to keep you warm when the temps fall off a cliff, adding amburana wood to a copper ale for a secret spice for the cold nights. ABV: 6.1%

18. Troegs Blizzard of Hops

We created this Winter IPA to toast hop growers around the world for another successful harvest. This storm of hoppy citrus and pine notes is a bright reminder the end of the Hop Cycle is only the beginning. ABV: 6.4%

19. River Horse Belgian Freeze


Our warming winter Ale is amber in color, malty and full bodied. Belgian yeast provides a variety of delicate characteristics in the nose and on the palate. ABV: 8.0%

20. Lancaster Winter Warmer Ale

No silly spices here… our Winter Warmer redefines the term smooth, with its monster malt bill, and extended cold aging, delivering deep, incredibly developed malt richness. British and American hops bring style to the party and an 8.9% ABV, the jolly, warming finish. ABV: 8.9%

21. Troegs Mad Elf Grand Cru

If you know Tröegs, you know The Mad Elf, the mischievous belle of the holiday beer ball that helped put our little brewery on the map. In your hands is the Director’s Cut. Tart Balaton cherries – loads of them – make all the difference. Bottle-conditioned and flush with notes of cinnamon and clove, this beer begs to be shared. Take a bottle home, gather your friends, and cherish the cherries. ABV: 11.0%

22. Von Trapp Trosten Lager

Trösten, translating to “comforting”, is a dark lager with rich notes of chestnut and toast. Carafa and smoked malts create rich flavors lingering on a surprisingly light, smooth finish. Brewed for the cold winter nights in Vermont, but can be enjoyed on any occasion. ABV: 6.0%

23. Troegs Most Wonderful Beer of the Year

There’ll be parties for hosting, malty beers for toasting, and IPAs out in the snow. There’ll be Mad Elf stories, and tales of the glories of holidays long, long ago. It’s the most wonderful beer of the year! Variety pack includes Perpetual IPA, Troegenator Double Bock, Blizzard of Hops Winter IPA, Mad Elf Ale, Dreamweaver Wheat, and Chocolate Stout.
