Cape Ann Brewing Company

New to our portfolio this week is Cape Ann Brewing Company from Gloucester, Massachusetts! Our official launch features two of their flagship brews, Fisherman’s Brew and Fisherman’s IPA, as well as their summer seasonal, Sunrise Saison. If you love Saisons, you must try this unique version which is brewed with 150 pounds of rhubarb and 250 pounds of strawberries! All three styles are available NOW in 6-pack bottles, so be sure to stock up!

Cape Ann was founded in 2004 by New Jersey native Jeremy Goldberg. After 9/11, Jeremy left his career as a Wall Street trader to rethink what he wanted to do with his life. He and some friends, including owner of Barcade Paul Kermizan, set out on a whirlwind cross country road trip to visit a whopping 39 breweries in 40 days! (You know you want to do this now too!) Their American Beer Documentary tells the story of their adventure and includes interviews with some of the industry’s top brewers. Be sure to check it out!

After this experience, Jeremy was inspired to one day open a brewery of his own. He heard about some vacant warehouse space up in Gloucester where a relative was living and decided to go for it. The Fisherman’s theme for his brewery was chosen as a way to pay homage to the generations of sailors and fisherman of New England and Cape Ann – the rocky cape thirty miles Northeast of Boston where the city of Gloucester is located.

In 2009, the Cape Ann brewpub officially opened its doors and has been voted “Best of the North Shore” every year since. If you’re heading up to the Cape this summer, be sure to stop by for a tour, tasting and some delicious pub grub!

Until then, be on the lookout for Cape Ann’s Fisherman’s brews in the New Jersey market!!
