Yards Brewing Co. Launches Yards Good Fight with Chef Jose Garces and the Garces Foundation

March 23, 2016 (Philadelphia, PA) — Yards Brewing Company, a Philadelphia-based regional craft brewery established in 1994, announced today the launch of their Yards Good Fight Program. As part of their 360 ̊ Brew Unto Others Brand Campaign, launched Thanksgiving Week 2015, Yards Good Fight focuses specifically on altruistic and philanthropic individuals and groups in the Philadelphia region. Those featured range from well-known members of the community to regular folks and under-the-radar charities doing their best to make their backyard a better place to live and work.

The Yards Good Fight program kicks off with a video, the first in an ongoing series, highlighting Chef Jose Garces, and his Garces Foundation. The Garces Foundation was created to support Philadelphia’s immigrant community through healthcare initiatives, English language courses and farm-to-school programs. The video was prominently played at the Garces Foundation’s benefit, Think Local Give Local, on Friday March 18, 2016, for which Yards donated the evening’s beer selection.

The 1:40 video shot in and around Garces’ own Buena Onda at 19th and Callowhill Streets in the Spring Garden section of Philadelphia features Chef Jose Garces as well as Yards Founder, President and Brewmaster, Tom Kehoe, and Yards Partner and COO, Trevor Prichett. Additional :30 and :60 second spots are rolling out on social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube.

On the focus of the Yards Good Fight Program, Prichett explained, “For many years, we’ve been doing the best we can to give back to the good people of Philadelphia through charitable beer donations and financial contributions. It’s our hope that the Yards Good Fight program will raise significant awareness and support for the organizations in our community making a real difference in the lives of Philadelphians.”

Kehoe added, “Philly is our home. We owe it to our community – our own families, friends and neighbors – to give back. They’ve had our back for over 20 years and we’ve got theirs.”

Chef Garces summed up the Good Fight mantra by saying, “To be able to give back where you live really feels special to me. It’s essential for me to be able look at my employees and my family every day and say, ‘You know what? I’m doing the best I can to give back’.”

“Basically everything we do – working hard, having fun and caring as much about the quality of our product as our quality of life – that all comes through in the beer,” says Kehoe. “Once landing on the Brew Unto Others Brand Campaign, so many ideas opened up for the future, for new ways that we can share our beer and have some fun giving back. The Good Fight program is just another way we can do that,” he adds.

Announcements regarding the Yards Good Fight Program and upcoming events will be shared on Yards’ social media and at Little Baby’s Ice Cream, ActionAIDS, Tree Philly and Joe Hand Boxing Gym are among those taking part in the program’s development.

Yards Brewing Co. partnered with EVERYBODY Brands, a Philadelphia-based full-service brand and creative agency, to develop the Yards Good Fight Program under the umbrella of their Brew Unto Others Brand Campaign. “While smaller than most would assume, Yards is a mighty force here in the community. The beer and the people are top notch,” says Louis Tumolo of EVERYBODY Brands.
