Spotlight on: Dogfish Head Chicory Stout, Immort Ale & Olde School Barleywine

2011 has been a big year for Dogfish Head! Exciting rock band tribute beers, collaborative projects, plans for a massive brewery expansion and over thirty unique styles of beer released in one year! But it ain’t over yet! There’s still one month left to go and it’s shaping up to be a good one. Chicory Stout, Immort Ale and Olde School Barleywine are all hitting the New Jersey market this week. That gives you plenty of options to make sure your taste buds are happy and your belly is full well until 2012 arrives! Cheers!

Chicory Stout

This off-centered stout is one of Dogfish Head’s tried and true brews created way back in 1995. Sam’s recipe puts the spin on your classic stout by adding roasted chicory, licorice, Mexican coffee and a touch of St. John’s wort to counteract those winter doldrums! Hearty yet mellow with big earthy and smokey notes and lingering flavors of chocolate and coffee and at only 5% abv it makes a terrific session stout. Try it with spicy Mexican dishes with mole sauce or a decadent chocolate espresso molten cake!

Olde School Barleywine

Dogfish Head’s famous after-dinner libation brewed with dates and figs. Decadent, sweet and warming at about 15% abv. Enjoy now or cellar for later, if you can wait another season!

This 11% oak-aged indulgence is made with maple syrup, peat-smoked barley, juniper berries, vanilla and a combination of Belgian and English yeast strains. Not for the weak at heart. Also one to enjoy now or savor later.
