Stone Go To IPA

Stone Brewing Company has been showing off their love of hops since the first keg of Stone Pale Ale was sold in 1996 and their beast of a brew, Arrogant Bastard Ale, was unleashed in 1997. Greg Koch and Steve Wagner expanded the brewery in 2005 and it has been booming ever since. Last year this top-rated brewery cranked out over 213,000 barrels of hopped up, super-charged, fan-favorite styles like Oaked Bastard, Levitation, 4 brand new collaborations, Crime & Punishment, RuinTen and highly sought after Enjoy By series. But wait… there’s more!

This week there are 2 words on the minds of craft beer lovers – “Hop Bursting”. It’s the brewing style used to create the highly anticipated (soon to be standard) fridge item that’s making it’s way to bars and stores throughout NJ this week: Stone Go To IPA. Hop Bursting is a technique where most of the bitterness in the beer comes from late hop additions in the brewhouse, like at the end of boil and in the whirlpool, rather than from adding the hops at the start of the kettle boil. The ultimate result is a delightfully aromatic beer with substantial hop bitterness we’ve come to expect from Stone, but a little more mellow. The aroma is peach, citrus and melon. Hop flavors dominate, but there’s a perfect amount of malt to keep it smooth and balanced. It’s a dry finish that will leave you wanting more, and at 4.5% ABV, you can have another one!

It’s makes a great partner to Cajun shrimp, oysters on the half shell, Thai salad with peanut dressing, tortilla soup, cucumber and mint salad, Jerk chicken, grilled salmon, spice cake and apple fritters! It really is the ‘go-to’ brew for craft beer lovers!
